Sussex County Positive Ticket Initiative Building a Brighter Future, One Positive Act at a Time

CATCHING KIDS DOING THINGS RIGHT!

The Center for Prevention & Counseling is excited to introduce the Sussex County Positive Ticket Initiative. This initiative isn’t just about the immediate smile a Positive Ticket brings. It’s about cultivating a community culture where positive actions are integral to our culture. By acknowledging and rewarding our youth’s good deeds, we’re laying the groundwork for a more compassionate, engaged, and resilient community.

A Collaborative Effort for Community Wellness

In partnership with Sussex County Law Enforcement and local businesses, the Sussex County Positive Ticketing Initiative aims to create an environment where positive actions by youth are noticed, rewarded, and celebrated.

How Does It Work?

Local law enforcement officers are actively looking for acts of kindness, positive behavior, and good citizenship among youth in our community.
When a positive act is noticed, it doesn’t just get a thumbs up. Police Officers will issue a Positive Ticket and a Posi Token – a tangible acknowledgment of their good deed.
Positive Tickets aren’t just a pat on the back! CFPC partners with local businesses and organizations to provide redeemable rewards for ticket recipients, a gesture from the community saying, “We see you. Great job!”
Each Positive Token can be redeemed within 60 days of the ticket issue date for a treat or experience at the participating partners displayed on their ticket.

WHY POSITIVE TICKETING? Understanding ACEs and Building Resilience

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic events occurring before age 18, including all forms of abuse, neglect, and household challenges such as food and housing insecurities. ACEs can have long-lasting effects on health, behavior, and life opportunities. Recognizing this, our initiative focuses on counterbalancing these negative experiences with positive reinforcement.

Why Counterbalance ACEs?

ACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance misuse in adulthood. Providing positive experiences and reinforcements can mitigate these long-term effects.
Positive experiences help develop resilience, improving emotional and mental health. They also promote a sense of belonging, which is crucial for health and emotional development.
By encouraging and recognizing positive behavior, we build an environment that supports healthy development and counters the effects of ACEs

The Ripple Effect

Join us in this exciting journey towards building a community that uplifts, supports, and recognizes the potential in every young person. Together, we can make Sussex County not just a place to live but a place to thrive.

We encourage local law enforcement agencies, businesses, and organizations to get involved in the Sussex County Positive Ticket Initiative. Please reach out to [email protected] with interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
