
Remembrance and Recovery
A day to honor lives lost to substance and alcohol use disorders and fentanyl poisoning, to support recovery, and to unite as a community.
Art Exhibit
Time: Open for drop-in viewing from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Location: Sussex County Community College’s Arbor Restaurant, 45 Main Street, Newton, NJ 07860
An open art exhibit will provide a platform for artists to express themselves through creative expression. Come by anytime during exhibit hours. Light food and refreshments provided by the Arbor Restaurant.
- Submissions & Information. Artists interested in contributing to the exhibit can submit their artwork for consideration. All mediums are welcome. The submission deadline is August 17. Remembrance Display
Time: Walk through anytime from 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Location: Newton Green, Routes 206/94 and Spring Street
Photos will frame walkways of the Newton Town Square, representing love for all who have lost someone to substance and alcohol use disorder and hope for those still struggling. Visit at your convenience throughout the day.
- Submissions & Information. Honor and cherish the memory of a loved one lost to substance use disorder by submitting a photo and/or memory to be included in our Remembrance Display. The photos and information that you provide of your loved one are used to remember those we have lost, as well as raise awareness in our community. Questions or concerns? Closing Ceremony
Time: 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Location: Newton Green, Routes 206/94 and Spring Street
A memorial and a candlelight service will close out this day of Remembrance and Recovery. Information on recovery support, mental health, and grief services, including how to get help for yourself or a loved one will also be available
