Wallkill Valley Community Coalition

Our Mission

Building a stronger Wallkill Valley Community by strengthening community collaborations to prevent and reduce youth substance use.

Wallkill Valley Community Coalition

The Wallkill Valley Community Coalition is a grass-roots organization established in 2020 to address the use of alcohol and other drugs among youth in Franklin, Hardyston, Hamburg, and Ogdensburg. Coalition members include representatives from law enforcement, school administration, local businesses, youth, parents, older adults, clergy, local government, community organizations, and concerned citizens. The Wallkill Valley Coalition will become a powerful force to create community-level change. This cooperative effort is an example of people working together with a shared vision, realizing a drug-free community for everyone. The coalition is supported by the Center for Prevention & Counseling with federal funding to create a Drug-Free Community for the Wallkill Valley region. We invite you to get involved by becoming a Wallkill Valley Coalition Member.

Our Goals

  1. Establish and strengthen the collaboration among youth and adult community members, public & private non-profit agencies, and local governments to support the efforts of the coalition as it works to prevent and reduce substance use among youth.
  2. Reduce substance use among youth, and over time, reduce substance misuse among adults by addressing risk factors and promoting the protective factors that minimize the risk of substance misuse.
