FREE TiPS Trainings Held for Sellers and Servers of Alcohol
TiPS trainings are a great service offered by The Center for Prevention and Counseling for sellers and servers of alcohol to prevent intoxication, underage drinking and drunk driving. Anyone who works at or for an establishment that serves alcohol is encouraged to attend, including managers, owners and staff. The Center recently conducted TiPS trainings for staff at Krogh’s, SALT: A GastroPub and The Wheelhouse in Sussex County. Successful participants who attended received TIPS certification cards valid for three years. TIPS trainings are recognized by over 70 insurance companies and can reduce premiums for owners of establishments where servers are certified. TIPS trainings enhance the people skills of the servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. http://w2.certegrity.com/files/TIPS_Newsletter_162.pdf
Program participants are trained by The Center’s certified instructors to detect the signs of intoxication and gain the confidence needed to intervene effectively to prevent alcohol related problems. Participants also learn to identify underage people and people who are already intoxicated. Many of the TiPS trainings offered by The Center are funded through a collaboration with local Municipal Alliances which are a local group of volunteers formed by municipal ordinance to engage residents, local government and law enforcement officials, schools, nonprofit organizations, the faith community, parents, youth and other allies to prevent alcoholism and drug use in communities throughout New Jersey. Municipal Alliances are funded by the NJ Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Want to host a training? Contact Annmarie at The Center, 973-383-4787 or [email protected].
