The Center for Prevention and Counseling is now accepting applications for people who want to become trained recovery coaches, sharing hope and offering help to people struggling with addiction. This is a volunteer opportunity that has the potential to become a paid position under the Opioid Overdose Recovery Program (OORP) which connects Emergency Room patients with a Recovery Specialist for peer support.
The Center will provide the 30-hour Recovery Coach training, free of charge, in February. The deadline to apply for participation in the class is January 31st, and a minimum of two years of abstinence based recovery is required. The Recovery Coach Academy©, developed by CCAR (Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery), focuses on providing individuals with the skills needed to guide, mentor and support anyone who would like to enter into or sustain long-term recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs.
