WYAD Winners 2022
This is the 22nd Annual “What’s Your Anti-Drug” (WYAD) supplement that the New Jersey Herald and the Coali- tion for Healthy and Safe Communities, a program of The Center for Prevention and Counseling, have collaborated on. This year over 500 Sussex County students from 29 different schools, in grades 4-12th submitted an entry to the annual WYAD Contest or submitted an entry to “What Makes You Happy?”, a special addition that was created
to recognize students in grades K-3, in effort to promote healthy and positive messages, at a young age!
Prevention Hub
For youth and families to thrive in a safe and healthy environment, communities must address the numerous risk factors that lead to the early use of alcohol and other drugs, often the first step on a path to addiction. The Sussex County Prevention Hub is an initiative of the Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities, a program of the Center for Prevention and Counseling. Our goals are to support the members of our community by providing a direct link to evidence-based support services, educational programs, and resources for all sectors.
Red Ribbon Week 2022
Red Ribbon Week begins Sunday, October 23rd and this year’s theme is “Celebrate Life. Living Drug Free.” As we prepare for Red Ribbon Week, we are sharing ideas for daily activities, as well as social media posts to utilize within your school community. Don’t forget to send us pictures of what your students are doing for Red Ribbon Week, we will be sending out emails to highlight your activities.
What Makes You Happy Contest
Tell Sussex County what decisions you make that make you happy! This is a spin off on the annual What’s Your Anti-Drug Contest. Singing, Sports, Scouts, Dancing, Drawing, Friends, Pets and MORE! If you’re in grades K-3, we want your original story, artwork, poetry or photograph, which tells the world: What Makes You Happy?
Week of Respect Toolkit 2022
Week of Respect is an opportunity for New Jersey schools to focus on building and supporting positive school climates for students, staff and your school community! The Center for Prevention and Counseling has provided daily themes, social media posts and projects that are easy for Sussex County schools to replicate during Week of Respect this October 3rd -7th.
