CLEAR
The Sussex County C.L.E.A.R. Program was honored by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce with the prestigious Chairman’s Award at their “Quality in Business… Quality in Living” dinner on Thursday, March 24, 2017 for having made an extraordinary contribution to the County in the last twelve months, and celebrating the first year success program. A press conference was held at the Newton Town Hall on Wednesday, March 29th. Senator Oroho, Assemblyman Parker Space and Assemblywoman Gail Phoebus all attended the event with Oroho and Space releasing statements of support after the celebration. Also in attendance were representatives for Senator Menendez,. Congressman Gottheimer and Governor Christie. Khiana Duncan, Constituencies Liaison for the Governor’s Office, also read a letter of support from Christie at the event. Most importantly, letters from parents of program participants were shared with all; therefore giving a glimpse into the gratitude they have for the compassion and care they’ve experienced through the process of getting help for themselves and their children. The partners and volunteers involved in this collaborative program were recognized and plans to expand were announced. Beginning later this year, people seeking help will be able to go to the Police Departments in Andover, Byram, Franklin, Hardyston, Sparta and Vernon in addition to Newton to enter the program. With that, C.L.E.A.R. is recruiting volunteer peer and family recovery coaches. Applications can be filled out here.

Recovery Support
Our 3rd Annual Sober St. Patrick’s Day Party and Open Mic Night were a huge success with over 60 community members gathering for fun, food and music! Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch, always an advocate for people to achieve recovery, helped to open the festivities with a powerful message encouraging all in recovery and their families. Recovery Advocacy volunteer Mario Inglima acted as the emcee for the evening and even provided some of his own original music. The night brought together people in recovery, their families and friends for dinner and musical performances. A very special thanks to Dominick’s Restaurant & Pizzeria and Bella Italia Pizzeria & Restaurant for providing a generous donation of delicious food.
